Edwardo Milan presents 'One Hundred Variations on A Theme & Other Stories' a solo exhibition of new sculpture, assemblages & constructions, in the Big Space.
This exhibition continues charting a map of restless creativity. Milan has produced a collection of small cast plaster works, as well as a range of sculptural works from recent times, that explore the possibilities of materials, form and space.
One hundred ships, each adrift on seas of interpretation. Each is a vessel not just of passage, but of memory and imagination, a symbol of journey and transformation, repeating an idea, following through, watching the picture change, adding and subtracting, altered by a hundred subtle gestures, edges softened or sharpened with fleeting moods, surfaces etched by passing thoughts. A tactile poem, a gallery of minor metamorphoses, the story of a motif told a hundred ways.
The sculptures come from a place of exploration, seeking, and playing. Assemblages, sculptures, constructions, all of these come from the desire to “make”, to work through an idea, to leave something behind.
